Navman FAQ
Under Windows XP (SP2) the download of POI files to the Navman ICN 5 series does not work it the Windows firewall is active.
It comes back with “insufficient memory available” which is misleading and wrong.
Only after deactivating temporarily the firewall the “SAVE to device” works without any hitches.
No Memory, You can remove NT or TAS if you not planing to go there or live there first or You can buy a bigger memory card eg 256mb and load maps to that. I use a 128mb card and it all fits but my friends 128mb did the same as yours so we just removed NT from the card and it all worked fine. you can add it back on later if needed.
Q. My desktop application is asking me for a product key. What do I do?
A. Open your desktop application, go to Tools and then select Recover my registration information from Navman. Then, follow the instructions to recover your product information. If you are prompted to enter a product key, disregard it and click Next. Note: you are required to have an internet connection to perform the recovery. Some firewall software interfere with this connection (temporarily disable).
1) I keep getting an error message reading '-327647861,, is not a valid
interger.
Make a folder on your desk top call it ( Navman gps data )
"Save as " the attachments in this folder first. Now at step 10 make sure you find it within the ( LOOK IN ) screen box. ( Find the folder on your desk top Navman data ) Do not open it here. Step 11 - just double left click it. Now it should work. It should now be in POI editor with the file opened. Continue on to step 12.
2) File will not push on to memory card
Remove memory card and check if it is "write protected". If it is, remove protection and re-insert into your Navman then start again.
Or try turning off at the battery switch then back on this should start a system reboot see how you go.
Cant see icons, Is there a transport POIs you need to tick on some models
Attachments grayed out, If it does not work go to Outlook Express ( TOOLS ) left click then ( OPTIONS ) left click then ( SECURITY tab ) untick ( do not allow attachments to be saved or opened ....) hit ( APPLY ) now try to open SPEEDCAM.csv , REDLIGHT.csv files etc...
Need more help right now
Also Navman have a help line give them a ring on 02 9879 9000 they should be able to walk you through it step by step if needed.
How to Guide
"SAVE AS" all the attachments and the ( Redlight, Buscam and Speedcam data) on your desktop or best in a new folder you
make up.eg (GPS data folder) on your desk top. Make sure you right click on the attached data and "SAVE AS" to the desktop or folder or you will corrupt the data ( eg do not open then save to folder )
Print This out and follow.
once for redlight, cameras, Buscam and once for speed cameras form step 4
1) Load the installer program SmartST V3 (or V3.5) software on your computer.
( this is the CD that came with the unit)
2) Connect you Navman ( icn ??? ) to the USB port with the cord that came with it.
3) Now turn on Navman
4) Open (I mean start) the program Navman SmartST V3 or V3.5 now
5) goto ( Map ) on drop menu and left click
6) goto ( POIs ) may say on smartST V3.5(Points of interest) on drop menu and left click
7) POI Editor should have started up
8) goto ( File ) on drop menu and left click
9) goto ( Open text file ) on drop menu and left click
10) Look in (Desktop ) or new folder you made up eg ( GPS dater folder)
then find ( Redlight.csv or Buscam.csv or Speedcam.csv data file ) attachment I just emailed to you and you saved there.
11) Double click ( Redlight.csv or Buscam.csv or Speedcam.csv )
12) goto ( FILE ) on drop menu and left click
13) goto ( SAVE TO DEVICE ) on drop menu and left click ,
NOTE: If this is an updated file it will ask to overwrite (Redlight, Buscam or Speedcam) hit OK.
14) tick Active, and Visual Alert and Audio Alert, Metric Distance
select 200M for red lights, Buscam and 500m for speed cameras ( I find this best), slide POI
visbility to MAX, ( left click little gray square) this is Icon file select, now look in
desktop or (new GPS data folder) for attachment called
(Redlight or Buscam or or Speedcam icon ) . Hit OK
15) POI file name ( Redlight or Buscam or Speedcam ) Hit OK
16) POI editor Hit OK
17) POI editor Loaded to your device Hit OK (back to step eight for each one)
18) All done now just X out of that POI editor and then X out of SmartST Desktop.
19) Remove USB cable from Navman, Navman icn ??? will restart all ready to go.
20) To check you have loaded (MY POI) goto settings, then Mydata, then MyPOI,
You will see MyPOI Files ( Redlight,Buscam or Speedcam ) with a tick next to it. If you do
not see this
you will need to press reset on the side of the icn for the data to load on to
the navman icn. Just keep pressing ESC to go to Main Menu screen.
If you wish to see the speed camera icons on the map only as your driving you will need
to perform one additional step. On the main menu, tap the "SETTINGS" tab, then "MAPS,
then "POINTS OF INTEREST" then untick and retick " show Icons on map ". While here it
might also be an idea to untick all the other items (ie Accommodation, Shopping,
Entertainment, etc) otherwise they will also show up on your display making it a little
difficult to determine exactly where the camera is at times as it could be surrounded or
covered by icons for the other categories. Click bottom right hand corner for next page
do the same just leave ticked " MY POI " now press "ESC" a few times till you get
a WARNING to save changes hit " yes " Your done!
That's it.
